inFamous - Best PS3 Game?

Many game developers have experimented with moral choices and open world gameplay. Some have succeeded but no one has even come close to touching what Sucker-punch has accomplished. They have made a open world superhero or supervillain(depending how you play) game that truly shows what your actions does to not just you but the world.When you start the game you play as Cole, the everyday bike messenger except on one fateful day. Cole is delivering a package until it explodes and levels most of the city and leaves Cole in a coma. After Cole wakes up he is bound to this new power and the government has quarantined the city. Now that the player is in control of a character who can either save Empire city or potentially destroy it, what do you do?

The game controls like a average third person shooter and after a brief tutorial you are on your way to taking control or saving Empire city. But the first thing you need to do is re establish power back into Empire city. After you bring alive certain parts of the city you are allowed the ability to “skate” on that section of the city’s power lines. This is a quick and fun way to travel the vast and alive city. When i say the city is alive i mean it. This is probably the most realistic city in a game yet. If you choose the path of evil and when people see you they run in fear or they scream. But if you choose the side of good you will see more side quests and people will run up to you and ask you to help a friend or do various tasks. This makes you immersed in the game world.

Now the thing about this game that got me so hooked was the moral choices. Each side(good or evil) has different sets of powers and vary in straight and just sheer awesomeness. My favorite and the reason why i went down the evil path is a power that brings a lightning storm crashing down on your enemies. This causes amazing explosions and the gorgeous graphics don’t disappoint. Now if your good your lightning is a very vibrant blue but if your evil your lightning is a blood red(a la star wars). If your playing good people cheer you on and hang posters of you up, if your bad people are scared of you and defile posters of you. But the game presents a big question: How far will you go to get power? This question really does make the player do things that they wouldn’t want to do. Your position in the game world is tracked by six bars, all the way to a saint and to the title inFAMOUS.

The gameplay is fluid and that’s what makes this game stand out from the rest of the open world games. Like Assassin’s Creed and Mirrors Edge you hop from roof top to roof top, but what makes this game unique is that its very solid and fluid. Cold just doesn’t fall if he misses, he tries to grab what he can and that’s what other games have tried but failed. The game is a genuine mixture of shooter, platformer, and open world.

There are many other parts of the game i would love to discuss but i don’t wanna give anything away. This is definitely one of the PS3’s greatest games to date and possibly its best. The game makes the player think about thier choices and does it in a way unlike any other game. So if you own a PS3 you owe it to yourself to buy this game, and if you don’t own a PS3 this is a game worth getting a PS3 over. Its solid, fluid, beautiful, and intriguing. What more could you ask for? Even though my build was a demo, it was of the final game. The demo was long and i do bealive i got the feel of the game. Check out inFAMOUS when it hits store shelfs May 26th.

Sucker Punch has announced on their forums that inFamous will have no English dub in the game within most regions the game comes out bar the UK, Portugal and Russia, meaning the Beaurux regions of Europe will have to put up with Belgan and Dutch voicing dubs as well as their respective menus in their language. The request came from SCEE.
