Relatively recently, the high-profile upcoming shooter Quake Live was released into a public beta testing phase. This new online remake of classic Quake multiplayer is available online now for the low price of FREE! Quake Live
is currently in the beta-testing stage and anyone is free to sign up
for the open beta on the official website. The only thing that is
required is a valid email address and the completion of a short sign-up
process which takes all of five minutes. The game downloads to your
computer following registration and is a relatively small file which
should download in around 10 to 15 minutes.

While the game
downloads, you are able to play a trial game which should accurately
test your skill level. Once your skill level is determined and the game
finishes downloading, you are able to venture online.

Quake Live
has a great number of servers online already arranged by location and
skill level. You should try to find a server that is around your skill
level and near your geographical location for the best possible playing
experience.

Quake Live is a very challenging game that will quickly improve your first-person shooter skills in ALL GAMES. The concept behind Quake Live
is simple: its just you in a wacky map going up against several other
players online. You spawn into the game in a random location armed only
with a really bad basic machine gun and absolutely no armor. You must
quickly explore the map and pick-up better weapons, ammo, armor, and
power-ups and destroy other players before they destroy you.



Classic
Quake weapons appear in the game including the lightning gun which
deals constant heavy damage in the form of a concentrated beam of
lighting, the rail gun which offers extraordinary power instantly but
suffers from a long reload time and a difficult aiming system, and the
nail gun which fires shotgun-like barrages of nails at opponents.
Another entertaining Quake Live weapon is the Grenade Launcher
which obviously fires grenades. The trick is these grenades do not
actually explode until around two seconds after they are fired. And in Quake Live
two seconds is a long time. Basically when using the grenade launcher
you need to predict where your opponent will be moving to next and
pre-fire there. This is also true of the rocket launcher which takes
quite some time to travel to its intended target. All players start
with a machine gun which performs poorly. Other available weapons in
the game are a basic shotgun, grenades, a plasma gun, a chain gun,
proximity mines, fists, and an ultimate weapon called the "Big F***ing
Gun" (or simply the BFG) are also included in the beta version and
allow for some entertaining kills.

Several different armor varieties and extra health are also found throughout the maps of Quake Live
and provide quite an edge in a fight. Additional powerups such as quad
damage (4x damage for 30 seconds), regenerating health for a short
period, a speed boost for a short period, and even the ability to fly
for a short time can be found in hidden areas of the levels.



All
of the maps encourage fast-based twitch combat and encounters occur
extremely rapidly. Player movement speed is without a doubt much faster
than the average speed in other games. In addition, all of the maps
also have booster pads which can be used to propel your character
upwards to higher locations. With characters zooming up and around
picking up upgrades and killing each other in close quarters, playing Quake Live is an exciting experience with no time for boredom.

Quake Live takes gaming back to a time when things were simpler. Its just you going up against others in frantic shooter combat. Quake Live
offers many game modes including team deathmatch, free-for-all, capture
the flag, duel, and clan arena. No matter what game mode you are
playing, combat will be fast paced and require excellent timing,
movement, and aiming skills.

Quake Live is based on one central concept: player skill. In Quake Live,
the game continuously updates your overall gameplay statistics in a
public profile and reminds you in-game frequently how you are doing. If
you do not come in first in entire server in a game, then Quake Live automatically marks it down as a “loss” on your record. Quake Live
is a challenging game, but one that will make you a better overall FPS
player than just about any game on the market right now. It requires
superb player skill to even be average, and fights are fast-paced and
unforgiving. If you are in a server that is above your skill level, you
will know right away because you will probably die around 10 times. In
a row. Without killing anyone else.

Quake Live is a brilliant game which can be played in full screen with great graphics. The game engine is modeled off of the previous Quake III engine,
but has been heavily modified and improved. The game also allows you to
track your recent opponents online and customize your player characters
appearance. Everything from a two-legged hopping alien (yes, like a
kangaroo) to a hardcore space marine are available.



It is also notable that Quake Live already has a large competitive scene and several established leagues including a very popular ESL 1v1 ladder.

Finally,
two other notable game features are an already full collection of 32
maps and an offline practice mode. The current 32 maps are absolutely
wonderful and designed with competitive multiplayer gaming in mind from
the start. Many of the maps have crazy twists such as underwater
segments and all have numerous stories with teleporters and booster
elevetators meaning combat is even more intense.
