With the success of the Call of Duty LAN scene, it was only a matter of time before we saw some more smaller scale events popping up and competing with the medium sized events such as Reflex. The originally named European E-Sports Event have announced their first event which will take place in the centre of Stockholm on the 25th to the 26th of February 2012.
The EEE are a new Swedish based company who are looking to bring more events to the Scandinavian console scene, one that has been dominated by PC for many years. The location of the event has been announced as central Stockholm and pictures of the potential venue can be seen HERE. The prize money is expected to be around €2500.
We spoke to Ulrik Börjesson about his new venture;
"Over the past years I've noticed how especially the Swedish console esport scene has been crying out for an event and that includes myself. Many other teams in other countries have been wanting to go abroad compete in order to create a more united European console community. For a long time I've known that I would love to work with something esports related. Since I'm not pro material in game I started thinking of perhaps organising my own event instead. About a year ago I seriously considered this thought and the decision on what to do was easy. There were ups and downs in the planning stage but I love esports and have always been good with figures so I've been able to manage. I have been putting and will be putting 110% of my effort into this event and I'm confident that I will reach my goals for the first event no matter what it takes!"Check out the EEE website at www.EsportsEvent.eu
